about
Rooted in a strong passion for early music, French soprano Jehanne Amzal has become a sought-after presence on leading European stages.
Her upcoming season promises to be rich in new horizons, including her debut at the prestigious Opernhaus Zürich, where she will sing the role of Dorine in the Opera Scylla & Glaucus by Leclair under the baton of Emmanuelle Haïm, in a production directed by Claus Guth. She will also be at the Opéra Royal de Versailles as Nérine in Médée & Jason by Salomon, with Ensemble A Nocte Temporis conducted by Reinoud van Mechelen.
Recent highlights include the roles of Cléone and L’Amour in Médée by Charpentier at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, and the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, conducted by Sir Simon Rattle and staged by Peter Sellars. She also covered the same roles at the Opéra de Paris in a production led by William Christie and directed by David McVicar.
Jehanne has appeared at major European venues including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Opéra de Lyon, Opéra de Lille, Musiikkitalo Helsinki, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Müpa Budapest, the Opéra Royal de Versailles, and the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris. A passionate interpreter of early music, she collaborates with renowned ensembles such as the Freiburger Barockorchester, Les Arts Florissants, Le Concert Spirituel, Les Surprises, A Nocte Temporis, Les Ambassadeurs, Le Concert de la Loge, and Les Paladins.
The season also promises to be rich in eagerly-awaited CD releases. These include Castor & Pollux (Rameau, Glossa), in which she sings the roles of L'Amour and a Suivante d'Hébé, and Omphale (Cardonne, Glossa), where she sings the role of Céphise — both with the Orfeo Orchestra under György Vashegyi — as well as Ernelinde (Philidor, Erato) with Orkester Nord and Martin Wåhlberg.
